It is all too common to be wanting to find a replacement remote for firestick, not because of problems with the Fire TV Sticks in your home. As with all home appliances, frequent and constant use may lead to wear-and-tear or other unfortunate mishaps such as losing it in your own house. Not too long ago, we wrote an article about the Firestick Remote App, which allows your phone to function as a Firestick remote. Well that is one of two ways to get back a Firestick new remote. Here's a quick summary of what else you can do!
You may prefer to have a physical replacement remote for Firestick for several reasons: maybe you have some users in your family who are not as tech-savvy, who cannot really use smartphone applications well; or maybe there are kids in your house who you have not yet allowed a smartphone; or maybe (as with us) you just prefer a full TV experience of operating a dedicated remote control. For any one of these reasons, you would be thankful to find out that you are able to get the remote separately for an existing Fire TV device in your home.
Alexa Voice Remote (3rd Gen) with TV controls
While the 2021 release of Amazon's Fire TV Remote is largely the same as its previous editions, the remote has some changes in terms of design. Mainly, they added new Quick Buttons for what they think are the Most-Used applications such as Prime Video (surprise surprise;) ), Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu. And also a little color to the Alexa Voice Remote button.
Going for $29.99, we think that it is only worth it if your current Fire TV is working perfectly fine, just short of a remote. Because for just another $10, you can get a brand new Fire TV Stick 4K that comes with the same Alexa remote!
Important to note, this remote is only compatible with the following Fire TV devices:
Fire TV Stick Lite
Fire TV Stick (2nd gen and later)
Fire TV Stick 4K
Fire TV (3rd gen)
Fire TV Cube
The Firestick remote is not compatible with:
Fire TV Smart TVs
Fire TV Stick (1st gen)
Fire TV (1st gen)
Fire TV (2nd gen)
How to replace your new Fire TV Stick Remote
1) Press and hold your "Home" button on your new remote until the LED starts to flash (about 10 seconds)
2) Then, using your old remote or the Firestick remote app, go to "Settings" > "Controllers and Bluetooth Devices" > "Amazon Fire TV Remotes" > "Add New Remote" on your Fire TV
3) Look for the new Alexa Remote in the list on your screen and select your new Remote.
And that's it! Your replacement remote for Firestick TV is now ready to be used! As mentioned, the Firestick remote app can actually work just as well on your smartphones. However, we understand that there maybe some people who would still prefer a new remote control to replace their old one!
