  • How much does a Fire Stick cost? Price: USD24.99

  • 83% 5-Star Ratings

  • Main difference: Remote has no TV Control

The Fire Stick Lite released in 2020, looks identical to the Amazon Fire TV Stick, but it is $15 dollars cheaper. So what is the main difference between the two and would the Fire TV Stick Lite be a good buy? Here is a quick Amazon Fire Stick Lite review that will quickly let you know the difference between the Fire TV Stick Lite and the Fire TV Stick (3rd Gen). Compare between the two live streaming devices!

Satisfied user reviews on the Fire Stick Lite

The first thing to note, is that as of May 2021, the Fire Stick Lite had more user reviews (154,678) on Amazon than the 2021 Fire TV Stick (3,866). If anything, this is mainly due to the recency of the latter, the Fire Stick Lite having been released for a year longer. However, it does suggest that the reviews for the Fire Stick Lite has survived the test of time. And this is a really good sign for the Amazon product, because out of the 150 thousand reviews from buyers, 83% of users gave 5-Star ratings, with less than 6% giving less-than-4 star ratings. The large number of satisfied users does gives us confidence that this is a product that has delivered what it promised.

Remote

One of the biggest difference between the Fire TV Sticks, is the remote which most of the buyers were raving about in the other Fire Sticks. Mainly, the Fire TV Stick (3rd Gen) and the Fire TV Stick 4k, both boasts of TV Controls. The Fire Stick Lite remote however, also referred to as the Alexa Voice Remote Lite, is unable to control your TV directly. For example, there is no power button or volume control buttons on the Lite remote: to switch on the Fire Stick, you would need to use your own TV remote to switch to the correct HDMI Input which your fire stick is connected to, before you can begin using the Fire Stick.

Well, for us, this is a minor user experience difference which should be insignificant to most people. Especially if, this is the major difference between a "budget" version of an excellent streaming device.

Size

The Fire Stick Lite is also slightly smaller than the other Fire sticks. Yes, it is only shorter by a little bit, while the depth and width is exactly the same. Not much of a plus or minus here!

Conclusion

Overall, we feel that the Fire Stick Lite is not really a subpar version of the other Fire Sticks. Apart from the remote differences, there really isn't much difference in your streaming experience. In fact, there is no difference in the output resolution supported which is up to 1080p, 60fps. If you have no problems with that, saving $15 for an excellent streaming experience, this is a great buy! Check out the product yourself here: Fire Stick Lite.

If you feel that having to use your own remote to switch on your Fire TV is too much of a hassle, then perhaps the Amazon Fire TV Stick 3rd Generation would be better for you. However, if you are considering that price range, why not go for an 4k experience for the same price: the Fire TV Stick 4K.
