What is Tubi TV? (And is Tubi on Firestick free?)

For the first app, we have Tubi TV, an American-based streaming service that was acquired by Fox Corporation in 2020. Even before being acquired, Tubi TV had already been around since 2014, with millions of monthly active users. After the acquisition, viewership grew by 58% in a report by Fox and it has since then been Fox Corporation's free streaming service, where their focus is on providing free options for entertainment consumers. Their strategy has not changed since its founding, in that it is still an ad-supported streaming service. Their revenue comes from advertisements which comes in-between the streaming.

The Tubi TV App has been available on Amazon since 2017, and as expected from their history, it is free to have Tubi on your Firesticks! They currently have a total of 357,000 ratings, out of which, 65% of buyers awarded it with 5-Star ratings, 13% with 4-Star ratings, and a little over 20% with poor ratings. As usual for most ad-supported apps, there are many complaints with regards to the advertisements. A peculiar one, though, commented that the advertisements came without warning and often in awkward places in the middle of a dialogue or moment in the movie. That sounds kind of intrusive so we may be a little wary about that since movie experience is affected.

However, they do have a large range of movies. Though, their best ones are really the classics (they even have the 1923 "The Ten Commandments"). Most of their more recent movies (2019 till present) are often lesser known films, some may even call them "B-grade". That being said, many users still were able to enjoy the available options and maybe you would too!

(Note: one recurrent comment was that the highest video quality for their content is 720p. Before you dash out of the room, remember that for the price you pay, which is zero, the content is still pretty impressive!)

While many of the shows available on Tubi TV have aged a little, you can still find gems that are not available on Netflix or Hulu. Furthermore, their range of content is massive, from action to documentaries, comedy to horror, rated to kid shows. You name it!

Conclusion

All in all, the app works great for the majority of Fire Stick TV users. However, if you have no interest in classics or horror/gory lesser-known films, it probably will not be your cup of tea. On the other hand, since it is a free app, why not keep it in your list of apps on Fire TV. You may never know when you'll have the mood for a random movie found in their massive libraries! So, no harm getting Tubi on your Firestick today!
